Reviewer Guidelines

The National Journal of Original and Applied Research (NJOAR) follow a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to maintain high standards of academic quality, originality, and ethical publishing. Reviewers play a vital role in ensuring the integrity, credibility, and scholarly value of the journal.

The following guidelines are intended to assist reviewers in conducting fair, constructive, and professional manuscript evaluations.


1. Confidentiality

  • All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Reviewers should not share, discuss, or distribute manuscript content with anyone outside the editorial process without prior permission from the editorial office.
  • Information obtained during the review process must not be used for personal, academic, or professional advantage.

2. Objectivity and Fair Evaluation

  • Reviews should be conducted impartially, professionally, and objectively.
  • Comments should focus on the academic quality, originality, clarity, and scholarly contribution of the manuscript.
  • Personal criticism of the author(s) should be avoided.
  • Constructive and evidence-based feedback is strongly encouraged.

3. Timely Review Process

  • Reviewers are requested to complete their evaluations within the assigned review period, generally within 2–4 weeks.
  • If additional time is required, reviewers should inform the editorial office promptly.
  • In cases where a reviewer is unable to evaluate the manuscript, the editorial team should be notified immediately so that an alternative reviewer can be assigned.

4. Ethical Responsibilities

  • Reviewers should report any suspected ethical concerns, including:
    • plagiarism,
    • duplicate publication,
    • data fabrication or falsification,
    • unethical research practices,
    • or copyright infringement.
  • Any conflict of interest that may influence the review process must be disclosed to the editorial team.
  • Reviewers should decline assignments where impartial evaluation may not be possible.

5. Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are encouraged to assess manuscripts based on the following aspects:

Introduction

  • Clarity of the research problem and objectives
  • Significance and relevance of the study

Literature Review

  • Adequacy, relevance, and recentness of cited literature
  • Integration of existing scholarly work

Research Methodology

  • Appropriateness of research design and methods
  • Validity, reliability, and rigor of analysis
  • Clarity in data collection and interpretation

Results and Findings

  • Accuracy and presentation of findings
  • Effective use of tables, figures, and statistical analysis where applicable

Discussion and Conclusion

  • Logical interpretation of findings
  • Consistency between results and conclusions
  • Contribution to theory, practice, or policy

  • Relevance and quality of references
  • Proper citation style and formatting according to journal guidelines

6. Reviewer Recommendations

After completing the evaluation, reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions to the editorial team:

  • Accept without Revision
  • Accept with Minor Revisions
  • Accept with Major Revisions
  • Reject Manuscript

The recommendation should be supported by clear academic reasoning and detailed comments.


7. Constructive Feedback

  • Reviewers should provide clear, respectful, and constructive suggestions aimed at improving the manuscript.
  • Feedback should help authors strengthen the quality, clarity, organization, and scholarly contribution of their work.
  • Even in cases of rejection, comments should remain professional and courteous.

8. Double-Blind Review Policy

NJOAR follows a double-blind peer-review system, in which:

  • the identity of the author(s) is not disclosed to reviewers, and
  • reviewer identities remain anonymous to the authors.

Reviewers should avoid revealing their identity directly or indirectly within review comments.


9. Review Report Structure

Reviewers are encouraged to submit a comprehensive review report including:

  • A brief summary of the manuscript
  • Overall assessment of originality and relevance
  • Comments on each major section of the manuscript
  • Evaluation of methodology and analysis
  • Specific suggestions for improvement
  • Final recommendation to the editor

10. Post-Review Responsibilities

  • Reviewers may be contacted for clarification regarding their comments or recommendations.
  • In some cases, reviewers may be requested to evaluate revised versions of manuscripts.
  • Continued cooperation with the editorial team is highly appreciated to maintain the quality and efficiency of the review process.
